Weaving a twill scarf with a herringbone style pattern called broken twill.

The latest project on my weaving journey is this beautiful organic cotton broken twill scarf that has a herringbone pattern design. I used beautiful organic cotton I had in my stash in a beige and dusty pink. The pink is on the warp and the beige is on the weft. I am totally addicted to weaving broken twill patterns. It is such a wonderful pattern to use as you will see in future project posts. It has a great rhythm with the weaving sequence and very enjoyable to make. I have since made 2 other scarves in the pattern in other colours including a grey and beige and a green and ivory scarf. Designing the pattern was super easy as I used the program Weaveit Pro 7. This is a wonderful weaving program that is very enjoyable to use. Now I don’t have to spend loads of time finding the perfect pattern for the yarn I want to use which can be very time consuming. Instead I use the program to key in the draft pattern I want to use, add the yarn set and other weaving information needed and it does all the math for me to perfection. It’s really amazing and takes no time to adjust a pattern to the size and yarn type I want to use or design my own as in this case. The green and ivory version is shown below.

Organic cotton makes a wonderfully soft scarf that is perfect for year round wearing. It is also great for people with sensitivities to synthetics. I want to try this scarf next with a lace weight yarn of merino wool and silk for the colder days of winter. Off to my computer to design the pattern for the merino and silk lace version of this broken twill scarf. Have a wonderful day and enjoy creating something today.
