Free Pattern: Coffee Time Cowl Scarf Knitting Pattern

This pattern and other FREE patterns are available on my Ravelry at: Ravelry: Designs by Valerie Baber

Perfect east to knit cowls to enjoy making on your “coffee break” or any moment to calm the day and relax. Includes pattern for the Accordian Cowl and the “Layered Look” Cowl. The Coffee Time Cowl Collection is inspired by taking moments in the day to create something special for yourself or someone you care about. I wanted to design an easy to knit cowl that can dress up any wardrobe. You can use a variety of yarns to achieve your own style. A nice relaxing design and pattern to knit during your coffee time or anytime you have a spare moment in the day.

Examples of the yarns you can use include Malabrigo Mecha which was used in the pictures below ( malabrigoyarn.com). On the pictures above I used SweetGeorgia Yarns (sweetgeorgiayarns.com) Chunky weight on the layered look cowl and 2 worsted weight yarns of different types together on the Accordian Cowl with the button.

Yarn:

Chunky weight, for each scarf you  need: 1 skein approximately 115 yds or 105 m in length in gauge below.  Any chunky weight yarn can be used   I also used Sweetgeorgia Yarns Superwash Six hand painted merino wool.   Works great using 2 strands of worsted weight yarn with similar results, slightly bigger as shown in pictures on the back.

Gauge for Chunky weight yarn: 3.5 stitches wide by 4.5 stitches tall in a 1 inch square done in stocking stitch.

Needle Size:   Round,  I used a  6 mm or US 10,  24 inches long.
