I designed the Lattic Lace Scarf in crochet perfect for this lovely yarn in the gradient effect shown in the burgundy to pink scarf or a solid colour as in the gray in a fingerling sock weight yarn.  You can use any sock weight yarn to make this elegant lace scarf to keep you warm and cozy this winter.

New Party of Five Mini Skeins

Hi!  I am finally back blogging.  I have been away dealing with some injuries that included my arms and hands, but now that I am one the mend I can type again! 🙂  Here are two of the newest Party of Five mini skeins sets from SweetGeorgia Yarns now available at www.valeriebaberknitwear.com or www.valeriebaberdesigns.etsy.com  Lots of other colours are available too!  I have sales on the yarns periodically to pop by often to see them.

The first one is the Seashore colour set that goes from the colours of the sand from the to the waters edge and beyond as you look into the horizon.  On a side note there is a new patterned designed by myself and available through SweetGeorgia yarns that uses this new colour way.  It is available in April so stay tuned and I will let you know.

The second colour set is called escape.  It is a lovely colour way perfect for spring with the gradient peach to salmon toned orange colour and the lovely blues.  Perfect for your next project.

Stained Glass Arm Warmers

Stained Glass series is a collection I have been working on this year in relation to my Architectural Design Project.  The Stained Glass panel beside the traditional style was also made by myself years ago. I loved making the Stained Glass then and always want to design some with yarn.

The Gothic Cathedrals of the past adorn many amazing Stained Glass windows that add colour to the stone walls.  I have designed two versions so far with a beige stone coloured base and a more contemporary feel on one style and a traditional essence with an ivory base and brighter Stained Glass on this style.  The beige contemporary version has rod iron that surrounds the glass window gently sewn in beside the stained glass panels in the center in a subtle manner.  The ivory traditional style has a bold colour way with the rod iron place one either side of the window panel in a stronger essence to go with the more bold traditional design.

There will be more colours coming soon.

They are also available soon at the Alberta Craft Council in both Edmonton and Calgary, see their website for addresses.  I have many one of a kind designs including scarves, and hand warmers at these two locations.

In my Garden

In my Garden this year I decided to plant various colors of tea roses and other favourite flowers of mine. I have decided that I am addicted to tea roses. They are so beautiful and unique with so many colours and types to enjoy.

I am back on my blog and will continue to post a variety of things I enjoy and make here. I am currently dealing with Arthritis and have decided I need to change my focus and have more FUN.

I used beautiful Cashluxe Spark yarn from www.sweetgeorgiayarns.com to design and make the Contemporary Lace Scarf shown in a beautiful birch colourway.  This yarn is made with merino wool, cashmere and a sparkle yarn.  Adds a lovely glitter to the design.  Of course you can also make this scarf in most sock and fingerling weight yarns of your choice.  Easy to crochet with chain stitch, single crochet and double crochet.  Try using various colours for a stripped effect or hand painted yarns for a colourful scarf.

Elegant Lace Chain Scarf Pattern

Elegant Lace Chain Scarf Crochet Pattern uses fingerling weight (single stranded) or lace weight (double stranded) yarn.  Wear in many different styles as shown button in different styles with 3 buttons on the back of on end of the scarf.

Shown in the Merino Silk Lace and the Silk Mist with a double stranded method. You can use any fingerling weight yarn single stranded for this design. You will need 2 skeins of the fingerling weight yarn in the Tough Love Sock yarn by SweetGeorgia Yarns or a similar one. All of these beautiful yarns are from SweetGeorgia Yarns. You can use other yarns of similar weight.
