Just a quick peek at what I was working on this week. Managed to finish another Ocean Breeze scarf this time in a medium blue green combination.
The embellished coral reef broche is done in colours with a brighter quality than the last one. All I can say is I really need my beach fix this summer. In my mind there is nothing better than heading for the beach on a holiday. Of course you must bring your yarn and some needles in case you are inspired to do more knitting or crocheting. I like to combine these two skills together. Makes such an interesting outcome. Try it, You will be hooked, (sorry had to write that), in no time. The other piece is another infinity scarf with the new Mecha by Malabrigo Yarns. I seriously think you should all try this yarn out. It is wonderful.
I also was able to finish designing a few pieces with the Rasta Merino wool by Malabrigo Yarns. This design has a nice chunky feel with amazing colours and an added touch of an embellished broche. Adds that unique touch that can be removed and used on another piece in your wardrobe. If you are feeling like less is more than wear the scarf without the broche in the long version or buttoned up to the cozy neck warmer. A multi tasking scarf great for the cold days of winter.
Luckily we don’t have to worry about that yet as it is the first day of Summer here. The beach is calling my name and as you see obviously on my mind. So if you can, head for the beach, river, lake or your favourite local scene today and see what inspires you. Have a great first day of Summer!
This weekend I was busy working on altering one of my designs previously called the Modern Twist Scarf. This scarf had an embellished broche included. It just so happened I had made most of them in a selection of blues ranging from darks to lights.
I am in the middle of reworking some of my current designs and making new ones for this fall. While taking a look at my designs I happened to come across the Modern Twist scarf. Dreaming lately of sitting on the beach by the ocean and knitting the day away inspired me to incorporate this into the design with the perfect ocean colours. Isn’t that just about every knitters dream vacation! While looking at the scarf I noticed the texture actually looks like the waves coming into land and proceeded with that thought in mind to do a make over. It just felt right to extend part of the front into a wave splashing on the sand, can’t you just hear that lovely sound. I added a small embellished broche that can be worn on the scarf or another item in your wardrobe with a bit of coral like flair.
The Ocean Breeze scarf was made with a collection of Malabrigo hand painted merino and Rios yarns with a touch of hand spun merino wool. I am so addicted to Malabrigo yarns as their colours are just stunning and perfect to work with. I must run and get working on one of my new ones for fall with the Malabrigo Chunky Rasta yarn…..
