Cat Attack…more like playing in this case. I was trying to take photos of one of my newest scarves and fingerless glove style for Fall but my cat had other things in mind. She tends to be a bit of a brat sometimes and has gotten herself in many moments of trouble over the years. She has had more than 9 lives! Apparently she was either insisting on becoming the “Next Top Model” or just a case of stubbornness. None the less she won in the end but I did enjoy the game of who is more stubborn, however she is way to cute for me to stick it out. 🙂
The Eclectic Modern Cowl Collar scarf will be available in various cotton colours and merino wool. There are two clear button on the back of the ends of the straps behind the metal buttons so you can seamlessly attach to the crochet scarf where needed for warmth. A lighter colour or brighter colour will give a different effect with a less eclectic feel depending on the colour choice. I must run and see if my cat has yet to leave her post so I can get a proper photo of this group. Enjoy your day and try something new today!
What’s new…various designs I have been working on lately. I have been trying to design some new pieces and styles to add to my collections as well I have been working on some that I will pattern later on in the year for others to enjoy knitting or crocheting. The Floral Vines scarf was just finished this morning as I dream of the flowers and leaves springing around me in the near future. There are still small bits of snow here in the shaded corners and the leaves have yet to make their way out of the buds. Yet there is promise in the air that they soon will be here fluttering in the breeze like the birds that will be singing and playing in the trees behind our house. As I wait for the day when I can plant flowers around my yard I will enjoy wearing my new Floral Vines scarf in anticipation of the spring and summer gardening to come. This scarf is made with merino wool on the vine and hand painted merino wool for the flowers. I will be designing a smaller version soon that would be perfect to accent your favourite T shirt, shirt, sweater or coat. This scarf can be worn year round to keep the memories of summer near to warm you in the colder days of fall and winter. Mix it with another scarf to add that special touch to your wardrobe. I’m thinking a special one for Christmas time with a bit of elegant bling adorning the piece. I will be changing up the flowers as well as I continue to enhance this design.
The second group of scarves are the Hand Painted Lace scarves that have a triangular base and a combination of two different crochet lace styles. This scarf can be folded in half to give a shorter and warmer style perfect for fall and winter. A perfect year round scarf that accentuates the hand painted qualities of the beautiful yarn. Various colours will be available as I continue to add them to my collection.
I have been taking time to add more cotton designs to my collections and have added this simple chunky cotton infinity scarf to accent your wardrobe. It will be available in Merino wool as well in the fall. Comes in several colours with and embellished floral brooch or without. A great price point that is perfect for gift giving and to treat yourself with a lovely handmade scarf.
To add that special and unique scarf to your wardrobe I have added two OOAK pieces that are made with a combination of cotton, organic cotton, silk, bamboo, bead and sequins. A dual scarf combination perfect for year round wear ability to accent your wardrobe. You can see more at here and how to wear this unique scarf. Only one of each is available.
Most of these were inspired the gardening season coming soon. I am looking forward to enjoying my deck out back surrounded by trees, plants and flowers. It becomes my outdoor studio and office. Can’t wait.
The Calming Waters Shawl…Inspired by the West Coast, particularily Vancouver where this picture is taken. Vancouver is one of my most favourite places to visit and just be! I had the pleasure of living there for 2 years many years ago. Love everything about it, but then I am a city girl by heart. I love nature and the country too, but I come alive in the city. This particular shawl was in inspired by my many visits to Vancouver and most recently Victoria, B.C. From the first time I set foot on the West Coast I felt an immediate calm. Strange in such a large and vibrant city
that one could feel this peace and serenity, but it is the one place where I can stand at the very beach where the picture is take and just feel at one with the world, relaxed, calm and alive at the same time. I could sit there all day just enjoying the sounds and sites of the water and everything around it. I love strolling around Stanley Park and enjoying the different scenery as you move along the sea wall. Smelling the scents of the ocean, local plants and trees enjoying every moment of it. This is the reason I was inspired to do a collection this year on water and various ways it moves along this world. This way we can wear a piece of our summer fun and great memories while we endure a colder climate and dream of warmer days.
The Calming Waters shawl is inspired by the movement of water with the rippling water seen in the base of the scarf in two different hand painted yarns. I used the Malabrigo Rios hand painted Merino Wool in two different colours to add the various colours you see on the ocean while the water is moving about. At the neckline the waves gently crash on to the beach (your neckline) and land softly around you reminding you of your favourite moments by the waters edge. The embellished broche is a combination of waves and ocean plant life in merino wool, hand spun yarns, silk and cashmere of various yarns. I may add some other embellishments later, still thinking about it.
There will be two sizes of scarves with the same theme in the future as well as a waterfall scarf. Who knows what else I will design along the way.

You can wear this shawl/shrug in many different ways as shown here. I will be adding more designs to this collection as I continue working on them with my inspiration of the water ways, or in this case the way of the water.
Have a most wonderful day and don’t forget to be inspired by your surroundings and people around you.
