The Rose Onie scarf is now bigger and better!! I decided I needed to add a super bulky, extra long version of this design perfect for the cold winters we have here in Alberta. I may be adding other colours as well down the road. This one is done in a super bulky merino wool and is very soft and luxurious to the touch. Perfect to warm up a cold winter’s day with an elegant touch and sculptural design.

The Rose Onie Cotton Scarf in a new Small size. I have had many requests for a cotton version of the Rose Onie scarf. These pictures show the newest and smallest version perfect for Spring and Summer to accent your T shirt, Sweater, Shirt, coat and more. A few extra pictures below to show where to tie this version by choosing one “leaf” from the end of each side as shown and tying them in a gentle knot. Place the remaining leaves where you would like them to sit.
The Rose Onie Scarf below is the largest version done in Cotton and Alpaca yarn that has a great bounce and texture to the yarn. It will be available in other colours in the future. I was inspired by some of my customers to add more cotton choices to my designs.
How to tie the Rose Onie scarf so it looks like my pictures. I have had various requests for instructions on how to tie the Rose Onie Scarf so it looks like my pictures. Here is how I do it. Instructions for each picture is below the picture.
1. Place the scarf about 4 inches longer on one side, I usually do it on the right side as shown in the first picture below.
2. Take one of the “leaves” from the inside of the left side and tie it to a “leaf” on the outside of the right side as shown here. I usually take the leaf that is first going up on the left side. This works the best for placement. I tie it in between the first two roses on the right side. See picture 3 to see the point where I tie the leaves at.
3. This shows where to tie the left inside leaf to the right outside leaf. I usually tie in a loose knot.
4. Now take two leaves from the inside edge of both sides and tie them approximately where shown in this picture. Again I tie in a loose knot.
5. This pictures shows where I tied them together so they stay in place. You don’t have to do this each time. Adjust where you tie it so the scarf can easily be taken on and off over your head. This way you don’t have to do it each time. A bit of practice and you will see how easy it is. Adjust the scarf and leaves so you like the look and you are finished. Enjoy wearing your new Rose Onie Scarf.
6. You can wear the Rose Onie Scarf in various ways, make new styles by tying the leaves where you want them to stay. Another example is this picture where I tied two leaves, one from each side at the centre after wrapping the scarf around twice. Any questions just send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Happy belated New Years to all of you. Had a wonderful Christmas and New Years with a house full of family. Great times! Now I must get back to work playing with yarn (I know, it’s a hard, hard job). 🙂
This year, to celebrate New Year and start off on the right foot, I decided that I would make myself the first scarf of the year. Kind of a late Christmas present. I usually don’t have time or take the time to make myself my own designs, not sure why, perhaps I just run out of time. I find when I am working on something new I decide I will want one of the newest styles instead, yet somehow I keep forgetting to make myself one. None the less I controlled my desire for my next design dancing around in my head and picked the Rose Onie Bulky X-Long scarf in a lovely Grey Blue Hand Painted Merino Wool by Malabrigo Yarns. This is done in their Mecha yarn, new this year done in absolutely lovely colour ways and extremely soft. The best part was finishing the scarf on New Years day! Great way to start a new year! I am currently working on some hand warmers for myself to match. Below are a few other colours also available in this cozy warm scarf.
I have been busy working on some new designs for the New Year. Some will have “One of a Kind” hand spun fibres and other unique yarns. I love seeing what I can design with specialty yarns, they are a great starting point for something completely unique. I am looking forward to getting back into more pattern writing later on this year so keep an eye on my blog to see what I design for this end of my work. I will continue to offer some free patterns to compliment my blog as well this year.
I love a new year, it is the perfect time to reflect on the last year and all you did and accomplished as well look forward to a new year of exciting adventures to come. Have a wonderful start to your New Year!!
What’s New…Rose Onie Scarf Collection in new colours. Just a peek into what I have been busy designing in the last few weeks. These Rose Onie designs are all custom orders from wonderful clients that wanted to add their own inspiration and style to my Rose Onie Design. The darker ones give a wonderful eclectic feel to this sculptural design.
I love enhancing and changing my designs to be specific for the person who will be wearing them. Makes the design a little more special for that person and another way for me to be inspired by their choices as well. I love the challenge that custom work gives me, like trying to solve a puzzle. As my family
would attest, I love puzzles especially the last piece you put in and finally complete it. That is how I feel when I am designing! Nothing better than finishing that designing puzzle and seeing the complete finished piece. Addictive for sure!
As I have said before you never know where you inspiration will come from. Keep your eyes and ears open for something new to discover and try.
Roses R… The Rose Onie Scarf and Collection has been keeping me busy these days as I design the new Rose Onie Fingerless Gloves and Head Scarf/Ear Warmer. This is my all time favourite scarf I have designed, mostly because it is a dedication to my Mother. My mom was an amazing woman with great strength and wisdom. She always encouraged us to do our best and try new things. Her love of the Arts, Music, and being creative has influence all those who knew her. She was very artistic and always busy creating something new when she had some extra time.
When I decided to design a special scarf for my mother I picked the Rose and off I went to add them to a scarf of leaves and vines. The sculptural feel and design add a timeless look to the piece. The Rose Onie Collection is now available in other colours as shown in pictures below or click on this link to view. www.intricateknits.etsy.com To add that special touch to the scarf I decided to expand the collection add in the Rose Onie Fingerless Gloves and the Rose Onie Head Scarf or Ear Warmer.
Last week my daughter and I decided to have some fun taking pictures of the Rose Onie Collection. It was a true joy that day, working together like my mother and I used to do. My mother inspired and continues to inspire me everyday. My Mother, “Onie”, was my all time HERO!
Be inspired by those you love now and in the past. Creating something in memory of them is an amazing therapy and joy. Do something fun today that brings you happiness and enjoy your day!
